A new Netflix drama released 18 August 2021  Memories of a Murderer: The Nilsen Tapes (2021)

 

Set in 80s England Britain’s most notorious serial killer, Dennis Nilsen, confessed to killing 15 people in 1983. Over a five-year period, he picked up vulnerable young men, lured them back to his home and strangled them, before disposing of their bodies under the floorboards.

The docu-series tells the story of one of Canada’s most infamous crimes, the murder of Lin Jun. Lin was killed by Luka Magnotta, who courted internet infamy before the murder by circulating videos of himself killing kittens. Swallows & Amazons

Arranging Neil Hannon’s songs … The National Theatre with Tom Morris and Helen Edmundson started developing a musical version of Swallows and Amazons in 2007.  The Divine Comedy’s frontman Neil Hannon wrote the music.

The musical premiered at the Bristol Old Vic on 1 December 2010 and played at the Vaudeville Theatre, in London’s West End, from 15 December 2011, prior to going on tour around the UK from January to May 2012.

The production is being revived with new arrangements in Bristol this Christmas (December 2014)

 

The Greatest Video Game Music I&II (2011)

Billboard top 20 album arranged, conducted and produced …
The Greatest Video Game Music, performed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra, features classical orchestrations of video game themes including those from Super Mario Bros., Call of Duty, Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy, Halo, World of Warcraft, Angry Birds and many more.  It was named Rolling Stone’s “weirdest hit album” of 2011, and debuted at #23 on the Billboard 200 – the highest debut for an orchestral release since 2005’s Star Wars Episode III soundtrack.
A sequel, The Greatest Video Game Music 2 was released a year later.

 

The Counsellor (25 October 2013)

A 2013 British-American thriller film directed by Ridley Scott and written by Cormac McCarthy. It stars Michael Fassbender as the eponymous Counselor—who gets in over his head in a drug deal around the troubled Juarez, Mexico / Texas border area—as well as Penélope Cruz, Cameron Diaz, Javier Bardem and Brad Pitt. Conducting and orchestrating, the score was written by long term collaborator Daniel Pemberton.

 

Seventh Heaven (7 May 2012)

Seventh Heaven is a new double album of pieces written by Anthony Phillips and I and released last year on Voiceprint. It collects together works we have produced for a number of different projects over the last five years both including solo works, chamber and orchestral pieces.

 

Shop-Girls (2017)

I wrote the music for this three part fascinating documentary on BBC Two earlier this year.  Presented by Pamela Cox and directed by Archie Powell the show charts the history of the British shopgirl from the mid-nineteenth century.

 

Russian Yeti: The Killer Lives (1 June 2014)

I wrote the score for this documentary in which explorer Mike Libecki investigates a famous 50 year old Russian mysterious mass murder in the Ural Mountains.

 

Vodka Empire (2012)

I scored this movie in which director Daniel Edelstyn embarks on a voyage of discovery which leads him from a mysterious family diary and small investigation of his family history to a Vodka Factory in the Ukraine owned by his aristocratic ancestors who were forced out during the revolution.
